Why Our Jacksonville Florida Escape Rooms Are Different!
One Way Out Jacksonville was created by Jacksonville natives Ben and Julie Owens and their brother, Lee Howard. While traveling on vacation, Ben and Julie experienced their first escape room and immediately fell in love with the concept. Upon returning to Florida, they joined with Lee and decided to create their own game using a spare bedroom in their house. The room was a success with family and friends who continually asked for more rooms. The team moved forward and designed a second room at Lee’s house. Confident that others would enjoy their creations, One Way Out Jacksonville opened in January 2016, initially offering two original escape room experiences, ESC101 and The Patient.
Always experimenting with new and bigger ideas, the group decided to create a room to challenge even the most experienced escape room players. That Memorial Day, a third escape room, Convicted, was opened to the public. Perhaps the most challenging escape event in Jacksonville, this maximum-security prison boasts less than 5% of inmates ever breaching its walls.
Later that year, Lee took on more responsibility with his first career, moving Julie into sole ownership of the organization. Today, as Julie’s dream, rather than a corporate franchise, One Way Out Jacksonville remains an entirely woman-owned, minority-owned, Jacksonville original.
As Jacksonville continues its dramatic growth, One Way Out is expanding as well. Due to the popular demand that has made One Way Out Jacksonville the #1 Thing to Do for Fun and Games in Jacksonville on TripAdvisor.com, the company is expanding its escape room offerings again!
In May 2017, OWO opened the doors to their 6,000 sqft expansion. Now, with almost 9,000 square feet of intense, family fun, we are excited to offer you even more rooms for you to enjoy. The fourth installment from OWO, Collision, continues the story that begins in ESC201 and includes never-before-seen puzzles and games to challenge your wits. We’ve also added an entirely new entrance plaza, space for corporate meetings and special events/parties with catering, additional restrooms and expanded parking.
Since then, One Way Out has opened 4 new escape rooms to the public. Three of them, Rendezvous, Black Site, and Interrogation, are part of the #FINDLIZ story line. The fourth, A Not So Silent Night, is a Christmas themed limited edition escape room that is not part of the #FINDLIZ story line.
In total, One Way Out offers seven immersive story driven escape game experiences and continues to be Jacksonville’s only locally owned and operated escape room company.
